Zoom Discussion this Sunday!

Hello, friends!

Join us this Sunday, March 17 (St. Patty’s day), to discuss Alfred Hitchcock’s ROPE.

We will meet at 1 pm PT/ 3 pm CT/ 4 pm ET (Zoom Link below).

If you have seen the film, this might make you giggle: Alfred Hitchcock in the most important set piece.

I have just had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Chris Hansen, Chair and Professor of Film & Digital Media, Baylor University–and I am thrilled that Chris will be joining us Sunday to discuss the film. Chris is also an acclaimed filmmaker–you can check out his filmography HERE.

As Chris and I talked to prepare for the Sunday discussion, I thought of two more things to consider relating to Rope:

1. Watch the film trailer, noting that the scene included does not appear in the film. Why was this done, and does this extratextual portion impact/alter our reading of the film?

2. Read Matthew 5: 21-22 and consider how this relates to the film, especially the significance of the role that Jimmy Stewart plays.
