Hi everyone,

We will not be meeting for a live discussion this Saturday (and I will miss it!) because I am currently a the Festival of Faith and Writing.

But you are still in for a REAL treat! It was a delight and a fantastic learning experience to discuss Moonrise Kingdom and all things Wes Anderson with Jeffrey Overstreet, Assistant Professor of Literature and Writing at Seattle Pacific University. Jeffrey is also a longtime film critic, novelist, and Wes Anderson fan.

“Listen to me. We're here for friendship. We're going to get you off this island.”

Focus Insider | Moonrise Kingdom: Name That Khaki Scout

The following discussion with Jeffrey Overstreet is a little over an hour long. We got carried away—and we could have kept going! I hope you enjoy it. Please leave any of your own thoughts about the film (or reactions to our readings of the film) in the comments!

The Empathetic Imagination is a reader-supported publication. For just $5 a month, you will have access to all content, including video lectures and live discussions. I appreciate your support more than you know–especially during my transitional period between jobs.
