Dear all,
Hello! Please accept my apologies for the radio silence over the past month. It has been an intensely busy time as I started teaching several classes at Covenant College (Lookout Mtn, GA) and one class up in NYC for the Baylor University Film & Media semester in NYC program. I have really enjoyed teaching in both spaces, but there has been a lot of adjustment and movement!
I am sending this quick message out for two reasons. The first is to tell you about a recent podcast I was on with my dear friend, Dr. Joe Kickasola. On this episode, Joe and I talk with host Stephen Roach about the relationship between art and the state/posture of wonder. You can listen to it HERE.
I want to go ahead and recommend all things that Stephen Roach has his hands in, including the Makers & Mystics podcast and The Breath & the Clay, my favorite arts gathering/ conference of the last few years! There is also a wonderful Makers & Mystics arts community on FB for those who join the Patreon. BTW, a longer version of the above podcast episode is available now on Patreon.
NEW SERIES:
I am excited to start a new teaching/ discussion series called THE CHRISTIAN IMAGINATION. I will soon publish the lineup of discussed books, films, pieces of visual art, etc. But for now–what comes to mind for you when you hear this title? Please put your suggestions and interests in the comments below!
This series will start in the middle of OCTOBER and will include weekly emails, some videos, and monthly online discussion groups.
I hope you are all well as things kick up for the new academic year!
Thanks for reading,
Mary
