Hello, all!
I will be back soon with more meaty essays/ analyses, but I have been (and still am) in the process of finishing a chapter for a book on Douglas Coupland that I am co-editing with the brilliant Dr. Diletta De Cristofaro and Dr. Andrew Tate (not that one!). The book will come out in 2026 from Bloomsbury. This all started in Spring 2021 when the three of us organized the first ever Douglas Coupland conference.
If you are not familiar with the wonderful world of Coupland, my interview with him and overview of his work in Image Journal is a good place to start!
Just for fun: I just found out that Douglas Coupland collaborated with a posh hotel in Vancouver to make a suite that looks like the inside of his West Vancouver home. You can see photos of Coupland and the suite below. I LOVE IT! And it does actually look a lot like the inside of his house! Here is an article about the collaboration that led to the creation of Suite X.
In other news: I just stumbled upon a video interview with me that was filmed two summers ago at Regent college. It has just been released, and you can watch it below:
“In this Walk & Talk episode, Mary McCampbell speaks with Hope Teggart about how engaging with books, music, and film can expand our imaginations and cultivate empathy. They discuss how the arts open space for spiritual formation, vulnerability, and attentiveness. This conversation was filmed on July 28, 2023.”
I believe this came out as a bit of an advertisement for a class that I am teaching at Regent College at the end of July called ‘Apocalypse Now, Then, or Never: Why We Love Dystopian Stories.’ Although it will be held in-person in Vancouver, it can also be taken online as audit or graduate credit. Last of all, I wanted to share a webinar that I was a part of about a month ago. It was organized by my publisher, Fortress Press (check out my book here!), who hosted a conversation called ‘We Are Meant to Make: Nourishing Your Spirit and Community Through the Arts’. It was a delight to discuss such important topics with Mitali Perkins, Anthony B. Pinn, and Karen Walrond. You can watch it below:
Thanks for reading! I will be back next week…
