Welcome to The Empathetic Imagination! This newsletter was born out of my interest in the relationship between the arts and spiritual formation, particularly the cultivation of empathy (which also led to my book). In this weekly newsletter, we will look at the connections between art, theology, and the hard work of being a loving, truthful human being. Thank you to all who subscribe, especially those who have opted for a paid subscription. This helps me to continue to do this work! Along with writing on the arts and theology, I will be offering some (non-credit) go–at–your-own–pace courses on these topics for paid subscribers.
Dear readers,
I apologize that I am going to need to reschedule my June film discussions (the new dates are below). For over a week now, I have been dealing with daily migraine attacks, including one truly severe one. I am very thankful that I have some prescription medicine that (usually) takes these away a few hours after they come on–but it leaves me very, very exhausted and often wiped out for the day. So it has been a painful, exhausting stretch of time. I take a monthly preventative injection for migraines, but it does not seem to be “kicking in” this month. I am working on getting to the bottom of this. Thus the need for a break. If you are a praying person, I would appreciate your prayers.
Once I am feeling more myself, I will be writing some more arts, literature, and film related content. But for now, I am going to try and rest and do restful things that don’t require too much of me.
I am VERY thankful for YOUR support and engagement.
